Dina LeDuke, Director Current Members: Dina * Myra * Melani * Lady Dusty * AnaMarie * Eloria * Naia Troupe Shivani is The Dancing Gypsy's in-house performance troupe. Gathered under the creative direction of TDG owner Dina LeDuke, Troupe Shivani is designed to showcase the talents of TDG's advanced students. Troupe membership is by invitation only, and is based on experience with, and aptitude for, Dina's particular style of Fusion Bellydance. Thus we ensure that Troupe Shivani's performances show you the best of what TDG Studio has to offer. Our Bellydance style is based in Tribal Fusion, with many other influences coming into play, particularly those of the Near East and the Indian Subcontinent. The name "Shivani" refers to the Indian goddess Parvati in her role as the wife of Shiva, Lord of the Dance; in this way we show our celebration and love of the rhythms of Tribal and Fusion Bellydance. As Shiva also has his Dark aspect as Lord of Destruction, Troupe Shivani echoes this aspect in our love for Dark Fusion and Theatrical Bellydance. We pride ourselves on our versatility of style, genre, mood, and theme... and always including a wink and a nod into every performance. Troupe Shivani's routines emphasize irresistible driving rhythms, mysterious moods, and also just plain old good energy and fun. We take our choreographic and stylistic influences from many different cultures and time periods, both ancient and modern. We are united by our love of the art of Bellydance, and the evolution of this sensual and empowering form of feminine expression.
